Subject: Urgent Concerns Regarding National Grid's Proposal for High Voltage Overhead Lines
To: WARMAN, Matt <matt.warman.mp@parliament.uk>
Cc: <stephanie.dickens@parliament.uk>

Dear Matt,

I trust this message finds you well. At the recent Carrington and New Bolingbroke Town Council meeting on Tuesday, January 30, the members deliberated on the proposal put forth by the National Grid to install pylons and overhead lines in the region.

The Council wishes to express its firm opposition to these plans, citing several compelling reasons:

1. Impact on Landscape Aesthetics: Given the predominantly flat terrain of Lincolnshire, the introduction of pylons and overhead lines would unquestionably mar the otherwise picturesque landscape.

2. Avian Safety Concerns: The proposed high voltage transmission line poses a significant threat to bird life, particularly larger species, raising serious apprehensions about the potential risks to the local avian population.

3. Adverse Effects on Wildlife Habitats: The project is anticipated to have detrimental consequences on local wild habitats, further exacerbating the challenges faced by many of the local species

4. Impact on Landowners: Farmers and other landowners in the area would undoubtedly experience disruptions and challenges due to the proposed development.

5. Negative Impacts on Tourism: The introduction of overhead lines could have adverse effects on the tourist industry in this region, potentially deterring visitors and affecting the local economy.

6. Concerns for Residents: We are deeply concerned about the well-being of the residents of Carrington and New Bolingbroke and those in neighbouring communities who may bear the brunt of the proposed development.

7. Preference for Underground Cabling: The Council acknowledges the need for upgrading the current network and advocates for the implementation of underground cabling. The successful example set by Triton Knoll demonstrates the viability and effectiveness of this alternative approach.

8. Support for Council Stance: We stand united with Lincolnshire County Council and East Lindsey District Council, both of which share the unwavering opposition to this development.

In light of these concerns, the Council urgently requests your assistance in voicing their objections and maintaining a steadfast stance on behalf of the constituents you represent. Your continued support in opposing this proposal is paramount to safeguarding the interests and well-being of these communities.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your advocacy on behalf of the shared concerns.

Regards

Victoria
